The new school year is almost here!
As the first day of the new school year approaches, parents everywhere will be thinking about a dozen things at once. Does their old uniform still fit? How has the summer disappeared so quickly? Have we got everything they need for class?
At Maple, we’ve got little ones ourselves and we know exactly how that feels! There’s nothing worse than the night-before panic when you realise you’ve forgotten a back to school essential.
To help make sure you’re on top of things, we’ve created a collection of Back to School essentials on our website. With everything you need in one place, it’s ideal to help busy parents in the build up to the first day.
Backpacks and Lunch Bags
Backpacks have to be big enough to carry everything they need, but not too big that they could climb inside them! Our range of children’s backpacks are ideal because they are the perfect size and there are plenty of colours and designs to choose from.
Lunch is the highlight of the school day for lots of children, so finding the right lunch box is key. Whether you’ve got a little wizard who would love a Harry Potter lunch bag, or you need a Chilly’s food pot to keep hot food hot, and cold food crisp and fresh, you’ll find lots of lunchboxes in our Back to School range.
Water Bottles
Encouraging children to drink enough water can be a difficult task, but letting children pick their own special water bottle may make things a little easier. Rachel Ellen’s gorgeous designs will be bright enough not to get lost in their backpack, and our Chilly’s range is perfect for fussy drinkers who need their water to stay cool all day.
Stationery and Notepads
For children to feel comfortable in the classroom, it’s essential that they’ve got the basics to hand. Rachel Ellen’s gloriously colourful pencil cases can hold everything children need from pens and pencils, to rulers and maths equipment, and you can make taking notes far more fun with our Harry Potter journals
Jackets and Waterproof Coats
September weather is always unpredictable, so be prepared for anything and get a new coat in advance. From Hatley’s colour changing raincoats, to Frugi waterproof coats, get your child involved in choosing their new coat, and you’ll have less of a battle on your hands when they need to layer up for cooler weather.
Children’s Umbrellas
Full size umbrellas are just too big for little hands, so buying your child their very own umbrella may be the answer to prevent damp uniforms on the walk to and from school. Djeco has some lovely umbrellas, and Hatley’s colour changing umbrella can put the excitement back into rainy days.
Beat First Day Nerves
It’s normal for children to feel nervous (as well as excited) about starting a new school year, so take opportunities to chat to them about how they feel, and what they are looking forward to. Start conversations about school in the build up to the first day back so that children prepare themselves for the change in routine after the fun of the school holidays.
Let children choose their new school bag, pick out pencils, or plan their lunch for the first week and make sure there’s always something to look forward to. Creating a routine early will make it easier for children to slot back into school life - and make it easier for you to deal with the change too.
